The Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) is the European Union's instrument for the management of fisheries and aquaculture. The first common measures in the fishing sector date from 1970, when it was agreed that, in principle, EU fishermen should have equal access to Member States' waters. However, in order to ensure that smaller vessels could continue to fish close to their home ports, a coastal band was reserved for local fishermen who have traditionally fished these areas. Measures were also adopted for a common market in fisheries products. La Politique Commune de la Pêche (PCP) est l'outil de gestion dont s'est dotée l'Union européenne pour aménager la pêche et l'aquaculture. Cette politique a été conçue afin de gérer une ressource commune et de respecter les obligations inscrites dans les premiers traités de ce qui était à l'époque la Communauté européenne. En raison de son caractère de ressource naturelle douée de mobilité, le poisson est considéré comme un bien commun. La Política Pesquera Común (PPC) es el instrumento de la Unión Europea para la gestión de la pesca y de la acuicultura. Se creó con el fin de gestionar un recurso común y cumplir las obligaciones establecidas en los Tratadosde la entonces Comunidad Europea. Dado que los peces son un recurso natural y móvil, se consideran propiedad común.
